Frequently Asked Questions

Can it be used on sensitive skin?

Yes, unless the client has a known allergy to Spicules.

How many treatments are required?

Depending on the specific skin condition. 3 x treatments are recommended. If more severe skin issues then 5-6 treatments.

Is it safe for pregnant & breastfeeding women?

Yes, seek medical advice if you’re unsure.

Will everyone peel & if not do they still get results?

The degree of peeling depends on the intensity of the facial massage and the precondition of skin (other treatments & products used prior). If peeling hasn't occurred it does not mean the client will not see results. If erythema was induced then the collagen synthesis has been ignited.

How long does it take for the redness to subside?

Everyone’s skin is different but usually within 24 hours most of the redness has dissipated.

Does it contain any acids?

No, SQT does not contain any acids, chemicals or fragrances.

Can I combine with other skin treatments?

The answer is yes, you can create a plan where clients are alternating between bio-microneedling and other skin treatments, rule of thumb is no 2 treatments on the same day that have the same purpose as we need to ascertain which treatment provided the best outcome and want to avoid wasting the client’s money and time.

When will the tingling/prickly feeling go away?

This can last for about 48 - 72 hours. Unlike metal microneedles that penetrate in and out, spicules continue to stimulate the skin for up to 72 hours post treatment.

Why can the pigmentation look worse initially?

As basal cell activation occurs it pushes the old cells closer to the surface before they desquamate making them look more visible for a short while.

Why did my client swell so much?

This is not common but we have had 4 reported cases in Australia over the past year. This is the body’s normal immune response to a foreign invasion and nothing to worry about it will go down. Provided breathing is not affected, you do not need to worry. The client can take an oral antihistamine and or apply a topical OTC cream such as Dermaid to assist with the healing. Cold compress and sleeping elevated during this period will assist with the swelling.

Can it be used on other body areas?

Yes, SQT can be used on all body areas.
